Belize to host 39th Central American Port Forum

By BBN Staff: The Central American Commission for Maritime Transport (COCATRAM) in collaboration with the Belize Port Authority (BPA), Port of Belize and Port of Big Creek will be hosting the “XXXIX Central American Port Forum, REPICA” to be held during the period 25^th -28^th July 2017, at the Best Western Biltmore Plaza in Belize City, Belize.

The purpose of the Central American Isthmus Port Meeting (REPICA) is to promote the exchange of ideas and experiences through the discussion of port issues.

The meeting will be attended by well over eighty (80) delegates from eight countries representing port managers & administrators, representatives of Ministries of Transport, port authorities and other related entities along with major players in the Belize port sector.

1. Central America Logistics and Mobility Policy
2. Strengthening Environmental Management at Central American Ports
3. Central America Maritime and Port Strategy,
4. Search and Rescue Multilateral Agreement
5. Ballast Water Convention and the Impact on Ports
6. Port Protection and Security
7. Verified Gross Mass (VGM)
8. Climate Change
9. The Role of Women in the Port Industry

The event is held annually and is rotated among the Central American countries, including Belize and Panama.  The forum promotes the exchange of ideas for the solution of regional problems related to port management and operations and other related aspects; as well as to share experiences in relation to strategies for the implementation of modernization plans, innovations and legislation.

Belize was offered the privilege to be the host country of the XXXIX REPICA Port Forum for the year 2017.
