By BBN Staff: The Belize Emergency Response Team (BERT), Belize’s only emergency medical response service, will soon be able to transfer patients in need of emergency care even quicker with the arrival of a Piper Cherokee 6 air ambulance today.

The single-engine fixed landing gear light aircraft is being donated to BERT by the Wagner Foundation of Wisconsin along with the Burlington Rotary Club and Wings of Hope. The plane will arrive at the Philip Goldson International Airport today just before 2:00 p.m. flown by pilots, Dan Hoerstkamp and Rick Oloteo.

According to BERT,  Interim President for Wings of Hope, Laura Helling was very instrumental in  assisting BERT with the donation, along with BERT pilot Timothy J. Stewart.  BERT has extended gratitude to everyone involved in helping the emergency service reach this much welcomed milestone.

The media will be on-hand when the new air ambulance touches down this afternoon.
