NEMO hosts Village Leaders Conference in Southern Belize

 By BBN Staff: Over the past weekend, the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) held a Village Leaders Conference in the south of Belize to review and reinforce the roles and functions of those leaders in times of disaster.

Main presenters at the conference included, Southern Regional Coordinator, Keith Emmanuel; Toledo District Coordinator, Kenton Parham; Stann Creek District Assistant Coordinator, Kevin Flores; and Toledo District Assistant Coordinator, Dennis Williams.

Addressing issues relating to the functions of water boards in time of disaster was Rural Development Coordinator from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Nemencio Acosta; and disaster management matters relating to mitigation, access and infrastructure works were addressed by Bill Cuevas from the Ministry of Works.

The conference was held in Independence Village and attended by village leader representatives from both Stann Creek and Toledo Districts.
