By BBN Staff: On Saturday, July 15, Roaring Creek police responded to a road traffic accident on the George Price Highway that occurred between miles 39 and 40 (near St Mathews Village), where upon arrival Police saw a James Bus parked almost off the highway towards the direction of Belize City and a purple Tocoma single cab in the drain.
Initial investigations revealed that the driver of the James Bus, 56 year old Cyde Tasher was driving from a west to east direction towards Belize City when he rear ended the Tocoma causing it to spin and go in the drain.
Traveling in the Tocoma was the driver, 47 year old Marcellino Umana and his common-law wife, 50 year old Suyapa Rodriguez who was flung out of the vehicle and lodged beneath it where she suffered a broken right arm, broken right shoulder blade, and 6 broken ribs.
She was then transported to the KHMH in a critical condition.
Umana received bruises on his cheek and both of his ears were punctured. He also started to complain of pain on his right shoulder.
No one on the James Bus was injured.
Sadly, Suyapa Rodgriguez passed away on Monday, July 31,2017.
Police continues to investigate.
