By BBN Staff: A teen girl from Crooked Tree was the victim of a traffic accident on Sunday night.
Police reported that at around 7:36 p.m. cops responded to a scene at the Crooked Tree junction on Mile 31 of the Philip Goldson highway, where they saw the girl lying on the right hand side of the road.
She was identified as 19-year-old Alma Flowers. She suffered injuries to the head, right shoulder and left foot.
She was pronounced dead by Dr. Flores at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. An initial investigation revealed that she had just alighted a bus and was about to cross the highway when she was knocked down by a vehicle coming from the direction of Orange Walk to Ladyville.
The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Leonel Del Valle, 25. A notice of intended prosecution was served to Del Valle and a blood sample was taken from him.
