By BBN Staff: Shortly after 9:00 on Sunday night, two homes on Santa Barbara street in Belize city burned to the ground and a child was killed in the inferno.Police reported that the houses and all their contents were completely destroyed.

Shanica Roberts, 20, reported that her one-year-old child was asleep during the blaze. She tried to rescue him but it was too late, she said.

After the fire, the child’s body was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
