Mexico and Belize discuss framework for MOU on transportation

By BBN Staff: Yesterday, a diplomatic and technical delegation headed by Mexico’s Ambassador to Belize, H. E. Carlos Quesnel Melendez, met with top officials from the Government of Belize to discuss the framework for a Memorandum of Understanding on International Motor Carrier, Passenger and Freight Transportation between the the neighboring nations.

The Government of Belize team included CEO in the Ministry of Transport, Ruth Meighan; Chief Transport Officer, Tirso Gavez; and Solicitor General, Nigel Hawke from the Attorney General’s Ministry. Other members of the Mexican delegation were Director of Bilateral Economic Relations, Armando Lopez Trujillo; Director of Planning and Development, Rosa Maria Zuniga Canales; Director of International Transport Services, Salvador Monroy; Deputy Director of Transport, Quintana Roo, Oscar Duran; and Secretary for Cooperation Affairs at the Mexican Embassy, Ilse Ochoa Valencia.

The meeting was a follow up to an initial meeting between Belize’s Minister of Transport Edmond Castro and Mexican Ambassador H. E. Carlos Quesnel Melendez, which took place in February of this year.
