Guatemalan shot dead at his home in Belize City

By BBN Staff: This morning around 3:30, police visited a house on Mahogany Street, Belize City where cops saw 45-year-old Guatemalan, Ruben Esquivel Aguilar, lying in the kitchen area with multiple gunshot wounds and apparently dead.

Investigations revealed that at around 3:20 a.m., Aguilar’s sister was awaken by the sound of someone inside the house then heard her brother shouting her name before gunshots were fired.

She then called the police who arrived a short time later. Aguilar’s body was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hopsital where he was pronounced dead at 5:39 a.m.

Aguilar’s body now lies at the morgue awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The investigation continues.
