By M. Vargas: To Editor and Commissioner of Public UtilitiesGentlemen:

We the ‘probreza’ of Belize, need your assistance. The billionaire Lord is stealing our phone credits now!

Since the installation of the new system at Smart, any remaining phone credit and data credit can NO LONGER be extended by adding more credit. At the expire date all is wiped from your account. Further Smart did NOT notify customers of this change.

If one calls Smart’s customer service to file an objection, one is given a direct number in Belize City to file a complaint, and ONE HAS TO USE ONE’s own credit to file the complaint! Ludicrous!

Esteemed Commissioner: This new procedure is tantamount to raising the rates for phone service, when one considers the value of lost credit wiped out by the system on the ‘expire’ date.

Smart customer service states that the extension feature may be reinstated but they do not know ‘when’. Well, in the meantime, how much more money will the bloody Lord pull from the pockets of Belizeans?

Personally, I have no other option but Smart as I do not get a BTL signal at my farm in Cayo.

It is beyond comprehension that the Government of Belize allows this multi-billionaire to continue to pillage the Jewel. He is certainly not entitled to citizenship in our country when his acts are destroying the fragile economy of our small struggling land.

Respectfully,

M. Vargas
Cayo farmer
