By BBN Staff: Fitzroy Yearwood, former Media Relations Officer at the Police Press Unit has been abruptly transferred from the department leaving the media with more questions than answers into the reasons for his sudden departure.

Just yesterday, Yearwood, via the official Belize Police Department (BPD) Whatsapp media group, issued a release which indicated that police were seeking the “Castro brothers” for questioning in relation to the wounding of Kevin Brown, who was allegedly beaten by a group of people which included Minister Edmond Castro’s sons this weekend in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.

This morning, however, when the media sought an update from Yearwood, Police Press Officer Raphael Martinez informed that no report had been made against the Castros, reasoning that: “Somebody has to witness the incident then make a report before action is taken.” Then, amid protest from members of the media, Martinez revealed that Yearwood was no longer working with the Police Press Office.

When pressed on the matter and asked whether Yearwood was removed after he issued the release that pointed to the Castro brothers, Martinez’s simply responded: “Naw”, before vaguely explaining that “Police officers are transferable”.
