By BBN Staff: The National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) through The Goldson House for Democracy and Patriotism in Belmopan will be holding a 3 day summer camp with the Belize Council for the Visually Impaired (BCVI) from August 16-18, 2017 from 9:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
BCVI is collaborating with The Goldson House to have a presentation on the 17th centered on the Basics of Braille.
A rehab officer who works with blind children will be doing a presentation on BCVI and will be displaying the equipment used in teaching blind persons. The importance of inclusion of blind persons in main stream society will also be discussed.
A blind employee from the BCVI will make a presentation on his experiences as a visually impaired individual.
Children who are visually impaired will also be at the summer camp along with employees of BCVI. The camp will be free of cost and a light snack will be provided.
Interested adults and children are invited to come and learn about the challenges of the blind in our society and get perspective on the sensitivities of the blind in Belize.
