Shoman sounds concern on developing crisis in Guatemala

Posted: Sunday, August 27, 2017. 6:14 p.m. CST.

By Lisa Shoman: My fellow Jewelizeans – Please pay more attention to what is going on in Guatemala NOW.

A presidential crisis is unfolding rapidly. One close and respected observer has told me that he expects serious and sudden upheaval – and essentially any number can play. The situation is very fluid.

Monday will be critical. Morales, President Morales could be stripped of presidential immunity and arrested.

The other Morales might well have resigned strategically rather than been sacked.

I’ve been advised to keep an eye on the Attorney General, or the President of the Electoral Tribunal, Sheny Mijangos.

The Constitutional Court has now stopped President Morales, and that ain’t no joke on him.

Read the news in Spanish coming out of Guatemala. Read the foreign press in English. Read, watch, listen, learn.

Why should you care? This crisis can can affect us, just as the last presidential crisis did – in a very real way, with hardened and more aggressive posturing.

More than the melee of Mayweather/McGregor, more than Harvey’s rains, more than beauty pageant brouhaha, this thing can seriously impact us. Pay attention. Stay woke.
