Amy Forte says signature forged by family of Gaspar Vega

Posted: Tuesday, August 29, 2017. 6:18 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: On August 22, 2017, Channel 7 News aired a story entitled “Another Vega Family Special” which implicated Amy Forte as being involved in a land hustle scheme with certain members of the family of former minister of lands, Gaspar Vega.

According to a press release issued by McKoy Torres Law Firm (Forte’s lawyers), Amy never applied to purchase national land in Caye Caulker in or around the year 2007 and never received any title to property from the Government of Belize or any response whatsoever from her application.

Forte was made aware of the issuance of title in her name during the Channel 7 Newscast and did not pay any purchase price sums to the Government of Belize for the property allegedly acquired by her, nor did she transfer any property to Andre Vega.

“Ms. Forte has never met Andre Vega and did not receive the sum of $30,000 or any other sum of money from either Andre Vega, any member of the Vega family, any other person on their behalf, or at all. Ms Forte has caused an investigation to be conducted in the procuring of her signature on the Deed of Conveyance dated 17th February 2010 and has been reliably advised that her signature appears on the said document is a FORGERY,” the press release further states.

“The incident has caused extreme embarrassment, loss of personal and professional reputation, emotional distress, and has brought into question her integrity, and threatens to jeopardize her career.”

Forte’s lawyers have written correspondence to the Minister of Natural Resources for steps to be taken by the Government to cancel the fraudulent land documents, namely the Minister’s Fiat Grant no. 175 of 2009 and the purported Deed of Conveyance and to clear Amy’s name.

The release ends by saying that, “Forte reserves her rights to institute legal action against the Vega family and the Government of Belize.”
