To all interested parties:

The Las Flores Community is hereby expressing their discontent, disappointment and objection at the Mayor of Belmopan, Khalid Belisle, for SELLING two parcels: 20-17-8713 and 20-17-8714, which belong to the the Las Flores Primary School since 1985, to Amy Anabella Chen (see UNDP/PRODERE Maps attached). It is important to mention that the school has been using and cleaning these parcels since its inception in 1985.

The community has been under the belief that the above mentioned parcels belong to the school, but on the 11th of August 2017 the residents and the Principal of the school noticed pegs being erected in an area previously used as a recreational space for the students of St. Michael’s R.C. School (see photos attached).

Since then, the community residents have expressed their discontent via heated meetings that were held on August 10th and 19th, also on September 3rd, but to which the Mayor and Area Representative, although invited to attend, (see invitation attached) failed to be present.

The residents have been patiently waiting, and even changed dates to accommodate to their requested schedule. They have shown ample patience and good intent to reach a solution, however, seeing the lack of interest and complete disregard on the matter by the Mayor and Area Representative, the community has no other option than to take legal action and make the issue public.

Let it be known that the community made it clear at the meeting on September 3rd that it DOES NOT accept any other parcel of land for the school grounds other than parcels 8713/14 and is demanding that the school obtains its rightful title that include these 2 parcels.

Additionally, the community is hereby formally requesting parcels No. 20-17-6253 and 20-17-6252 to be designated as recreational areas (see proposed design attached). The community has seen the rampant distribution of ALL its green areas and refuses to lose any more.

The community of Las Flores is appealing the assistance of any interested entity in solving this matter on their behalf and especially that of the children of the community.

Contact us at the above email address.

Sincerely yours,

The Las Flores Steering Committee
