Fatal road traffic accident on Philip Goldson Highway leaves one dead

By BBN Staff: Last night around 7:15, Ladyville Police responded to a road traffic accident between miles 14 and 15 on the Philip Goldson Highway.

When Police arrived at the scene, they observed a red Isuzu Trooper on the right side of the road. Beside the trooper was Joaquin Villamil,38, a businessman of Carmelita Village in an unconscious state.

Nearby was his wife, Julissa Villamil, 37, with injuries to her legs.

Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly thereafter and pronounced Joaquin dead.

Julissa was transported to the KHMH.

Police initial investigation revealed that the couple was travelling from Carmelita Village to Belmopan and upon reaching that area, Villamil lost control of the vehicle which overturned and flipped several times.

He was flung out of the vehicle and unto the road side and the vehicle landed on top of him.

Passersby managed to remove the vehicle from on top of him.

The body of Joaquin was taken to the KHMH Morgue where it awaits a post mortem.
