Saldivar has doubts about Amy Forte

By BBN Staff: While Prime Minister Dean Barrow believes that Amy Forte’s signature may have been forged in a land scheme involving the family of Gaspar Vega; John Saldivar has publicly discounted Forte’s credibility.

On Wednesday, Saldivar questioned Forte’s credibility, given the fact that she never made formal complaints into the allegations of fraud to the police.

“The person, who made that accusation refuses to give a statement to the police, refuses to give a statement to the attorney general and we are also aware now that the person who was the agent on her behalf was her own partner,” Saldivar said.

Leader of the Opposition, John Briceno, said that he believes Saldivar is trying to intimidate Forte, along with anyone else in the future that tries to expose government corruption. Forte had written a letter to Prime Minister Dean Barrow, proclaiming her innocence and alleging the forgery; however, the Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte told the media that, despite his efforts to  get a statement from her, Forte hasn’t made any formal complaint.

The alleged forgery is with respect to land documents which show that several members of Gaspar Vega’s family amassed acreage of land on Mosquito Caye.
