Honorary Consulate of Belize in Chetumal reopened

By BBN Staff: The Government of Belize announced today that they have officially re-opened the Honorary Consulate of Belize in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

The office is headed by the newly appointed Honorary Consul Luis Montero Maldonado.

The re-launch took place in Chetumal on Friday, September 8, 2017 at an event presided over by His Excellency (H.E.) Patrick Andrews, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Accompanying H.E. Andrews were Miguel Martin, Chief of Staff in the Office of the Governor of the State of Quintana Roo;  Luis Torres, Mayor of the Municipality of Othon P. Blanco; and H.E. Oliver del Cid, Ambassador of Belize to Mexico.

The event was attended by dozens of federal and municipal officials, as well as members of academia and the private sector in Chetumal.

In his remarks, H.E. Andrews underscored the importance of the re-opening of the Honorary Consulate to serve the needs of Belizean visitors and students who travel to Quintana Roo on a regular basis, as well as to promote cultural, trade, investment, and academic exchanges between Belize and Mexico.
