By BBN Staff: The Senate Select Committee met again this week but from all indications the hearings will be suspended before the year is finished.

Last week, Prime Minister Dean Barrow indicated that the Government of Belize would not be able to provide funding for the hearings past November due to budgetary deficits.

Senator Aldo Salazar, who is the chairman of the committee in an interview with the press indicated that he feels that the committee has been adequately financed and has used an adequate amount of time.

According to him, it is sufficient for him to produce the committee’s report that will be sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

He said, “I have no quarrel with the Prime Minister if his view is the same as mine.”
