By BBN Staff: The family of Dean Bennett, a San Ignacio man who went missing on Saturday, September 9, 2017 is applying at the Ministry of Health to exhume a body that was found by San Ignacio Police on Tuesday, September 12 to determine if the body is that of Dean Bennett.

According to Saluz Jimenez, the mother of Bennett, she believes that the police could have done more in describing the body that was found on the Macal River two days ago so that her family could have identified her son.

Jimenez said that she only realized that it was her son after she watched the news on Wednesday night. She told BBN that after watching the news along with other family members, they immediately went to the San Ignacio Police Station to report that her son had the same tattoos reported.

The family claims that they had pictures of the tattoo but an officer told them to return to the station today.

Jimenez younger son Daniel “Blacky” Bennett had gone missing on March 11, 2017 and now her second son, Dean Bennett was found dead with multiple stab wounds floating in the Macal River.

According to Jimenez, she believes that her son was killed due to an incident that occurred in September 2016, where both Dean and Daniel were involved in a stabbing incident downtown San Ignacio.

She told us that Daniel had stabbed a man while defending his brother Dean.
