San Ignacio Police: Body found in Macal River is Dean Bennett

By BBN Staff: This evening, BBN reported that the family of a San Ignacio man was applying at the Ministry of Health to exhume the body that was found floating in the Macal River 2 days ago because they believe that it is their relative whom police found in the river.

On Tuesday around 2pm, San Ignacio police found the body floating in the Macal River near the new bridge. On Wednesday, police held a press briefing giving description of the body and asking the public for their help in identifying it.

A short while ago, police confirmed through their press WhatsApp group that today, Salusciana Jimenez positively identified the body as that of her son, Dean Emmanuel Bennett, 20 year old.

Dean is the brother of Daniel Bennett who went missing without any trace on March 11, 2017.

The family believes that the disappearance of Daniel and the murder of Dean are related to a stabbing incident that occurred in September 2016.

Police are investigating.
