Belize Network of NGO’s in solidarity with Bar Association

By BBN Staff: The Belize Network of NGOs (BNN) issued a press release stating that it stands in solidarity with the Bar Association of Belize regarding government’s appointment of Franz Parke as a Justice of the Court of Appeal.

The BNN says that it is of their view that Parke’s curriculum vitae attests that he does not have the requisite experience to serve as a Justice of the Court of Appeal.

The BNN urged the Government of Belize to appoint Justices of the highest caliber and with the relevant, extensive experience as called for by Section 101(2) of the Constitution.

The network also reiterated that it is of the utmost importance to strengthen judicial independence in Belize, and this should at all times be reflected in appointments to our highest Courts.
