By BBN Staff: The Belize American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (BACCOF), is holding stakeholder meetings to establish links between investors in the United States and Belizean businesses.

BACCOF is holding meetings with the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), the Belize City Council, the United States Embassy, and potential investors.

Rishma Eckert, member of the BACCOF General Counsel, explained that the organization caters specifically to improving Belize’s economy through raising foreign direct investment (FDI). Eckert added that the organization vets companies in the US that want to do business in Belize to ensure legitimacy before making connections in Belize.

“Also we wanted to make sure on the other side of it that we preserve the reputation that Belize has as investment worthy,” Eckert said.

BACCOF Executive Director Michael Young, speaking about the stakeholder meeting, emphasized that collaborating with the various local authorities is paramount to the success of the organization.
