By BBN Staff: On Monday morning, farmers from Santa Teresita were coming out of their village as per their usual routine with produce when their wooden bridge collapsed.

A resident told BBN that the wooden bridge was built in 1988 when Salvador Fernandez built the metal Bullet Tree bridge. The villager told us that the wood they took off from the Bullet Tree bridge was used to build their one. He also told us that when it was built, the villagers were given a report that $14,000 was spent to build it.

Since then, there has been only repairs to the bridge and no effort to build a new one. Villagers say that the bridge was their main entrance and exit to the village since the other exit is a five mile distance.

Villagers are riled up and are planning to protest in front of the Ministry of Works office until their village gets a new bridge.
