By BBN Staff:  The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is closely monitoring Invest 90L in the Atlantic.

The Mexican Meteorological Center is also reporting that Invest 90L has formed into a Tropical depression in the western Caribbean Sea.

The system is expected to bring heavy rains across Central America in the next few days.

Forecasters say that on Friday, heavy rains and winds may affect Cancun and Cozumel.

It is forecasted that the system will make landfall along the northern Gulf Coast Sunday as either a tropical storm or hurricane.

The system is currently located in the southwestern Caribbean Sea off the coast of Nicaragua and is expected to slingshot northward through this week and into the upcoming weekend.
