Canadian man ambushed and murdered in Corozal

By BBN Staff: Last night around 10:30, Corozal Police responded to a shooting incident in Chula Vista area, Corozal Town.

Police investigation reveals that Jeshanah Maritza Zetina, 27, of Chula Vista area, her husband Gabriel Buchnia ,38, a Canadian contractor, and their 3 children had just arrived at their house.

Buchnia reportedly exited his vehicle to open his gate when a person with half his face covered ran up to him and fired shots at him causing injuries to his abdomen area.

Buchnia recognized the person as someone he calls”Polo”.

The man then pointed the firearm at Zetina and it reportedly misfired.

“Polo” then ran across the street towards the Recalde Stadium.

Buchnia was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital for medical attention and then to the Orange Walk Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police investigations continue.
