By BBN Staff: Three officers have been placed on disciplinary charges for neglect of duty and act of prejudice to good order and discipline.
According to police reports, on April 26, 2017, a team of Special Patrol Unit Personnel headed by police corporal Clinton Thomas and accompanied by officers Kishane Peck, Albert Augustine and another officer conducted a house search at a home in Santa Elena Town, Cayo which led to the discovery of 27 parcels of cocaine.
The officers took possession of the drugs and then handcuffed the two occupants to take to Belmopan.
On their way to Belmopan, they stopped and released the detainees on the road side and continued their route.
Upon arrival at Belmopan, instead of depositing the drugs, it is alleged that they went and concealed the drugs at a disclosed location with the intention of selling it and sharing the proceeds among themselves.
The Professional Standards Branch launched an investigation into the matter which revealed that the information is credible.
The officers have since been interdicted from duty pending the outcome of this matter.
