By BBN Staff: Chrisstoffer Jan Roggema, a Norwegian/Belizean citizen and businessman, has reportedly gone missing since Monday, a close relative informed BBN.

The worried relative explained that Roggema, who owned the Cocoplum Garden Spa in Caye Caulker, has been living in Belize since the late 1980’s and recently moved to St. Margaret’s village six months ago.

Roggema reportedly went out to a see property on Monday morning with a business partner and a land surveyor along the Sibun river.

The relative disclosed that Roggema had been sick for a week with a flu, fever and bronchial cough and was encouraged not to go but he insisted.

The men reportedly proceeded into high bush to cut trails. According to the relative, Monday was very hot and Chriss said he would be able to make it back to the car.

The two other men then reportedly decided to go for the vehicle and return for Roggema but when they returned they couldn’t find him. The men immediately reported it to police and since then residents and police have been out in the area searching.

Today marks the third day of the search and a member of the search team told BBN that Roggema still hasn’t been found.

BBN has confirmed that police have been involved in the search for Roggema since Monday. The Belize Police Department’s press office, however, has not issued an official release.
