By BBN Staff: According to a report from CTV3 News in Orange Walk, over the long weekend, the Northern Border saw a total of 13,232 departures from Belize into Mexico.
The report states that out of the total departures, 12,607 were Belizeans that went to visit tourist destinations in the neighboring country.
A border crossing issue currently exists at the Northern Border especially on weekends, and on long holidays, and this problem causes frustration among Belizeans because they have to wait for many hours to cross the border.
There have been numerous complaints on social media where frequent visitors are saying that that Immigration personnel at the Northern Border are limited in terms of resources.
The CTV 3 News report further states that if each Belizean traveler spent $100 on medical expenses, or shopping and food, that is about $1.2 million Belizean dollars going into Mexico for one weekend only.
