By BBN Staff: Most media houses countrywide have decided to once again go on a boycott of the Police Department.

Journalists and media personnel have engaged in boycotting all police related activities since they have brought forth their concern to the Commissioner of Police (COMPOL) that the Police Department has denied to give a press briefing on the major crimes that have happened in the country over the last couple of weeks.

Last week, News 5 approached COMPOL Whylie and asked him to rectify the situation and he promised to look into the matter.

However, there has been no improvement in the media-police relations.

The boycott began yesterday with the GREAT graduation ceremony not being covered by most media houses.

On Sunday, after the COMPOL met with the Chinese Association, News 5’s Aaron Humes requested comment on the matter.

The COMPOL said “I won’t get into that today. I will stick just to the meeting that we had today, so that’s it. Thank you.”

Since July, media houses in Belize have requested to meet with the COMPOL but the requests have been completely ignored.
