By BBN Staff: Today marks the fourth day that Norwegian- Belizean businessman Chrisstofer Jan Roggema has been missing.

Roggema owned the Cocoplum Garden Spa in Caye Caulker and has been living in Belize since the late 1980’s.

He recently moved to St. Margaret’s village in southern Belize six months ago.

Roggema reportedly went out to a see property on Monday morning with a business partner and a land surveyor along the Sibun river.

A close relative disclosed that Roggema had been sick for a week with a flu, fever and bronchial cough and was encouraged not to go but he insisted.

The men reportedly proceeded into high bush to cut trails. According to the relative, Monday was very hot and Chriss said he would be able to make it back to the car.

The two other men then reportedly decided to go for the vehicle and return for Roggema but when they returned they couldn’t find him. The men immediately reported it to police and since then residents and police have been out in the area searching.

BBN has confirmed that police have been involved in the search for Roggema since Monday and according to reports, soldiers from the Belize Defense Force are joining the search today.

Roggema’s children are on their way to Belize to assist in the search for their father.

The Belize Police Department’s press office, however, has not issued an official release.
