By BBN Staff: Citizens Organized for Liberty through Action (COLA) President, Giovanni Brackett is calling the recent murder of activist Albert Cattouse an ordered execution.
Brackett said that information coming to COLA is that Cattouse’s murder was done deliberately to send a message to the activist community in Belize.
Brackett did not give any indication as to who he believes ordered the hit, but is appealing to the police to conduct a thorough investigation.
Minister of Police, Elodio Aragon, addressed the allegation that Cattouse’s murder was politically motivated last week, assuring that the murder was not.
The organization the Belize Leaders for Social Justice has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture and conviction of Cattouse’s murderer.
Albert Cattouse, 72-year-old taxi driver and community activist, was shot dead last Thursday shortly after 7 p.m.
