By BBN Staff: The United Democratic Party (UDP), which has encountered its share of internal dissension playing out in public, is faced with more controversy and apparent division following this weekend’s municipal convention held in Dangriga.
In that convention held on Sunday, incumbent Francis Humphreys trashed his opponent. A news report from 7 News Belize states that following the overwhelming victory, Dangriga Area Representative Frank “Pawpa ” Mena lashed out on Facebook because his candidate was defeated.
“It’s a shame … you have to use money to buy my people. Sad that they don’t know how you only care for your agenda and your racist needs. That’s politics,” Mena said via Facebook according to the 7 News Belize report.
Responding to an insulting comment from a fake Facebook account, Mena said: “Create your accounts and attack. With time my people will know that you don’t really give a f**k. I will continue to defend them even though you think we all have a price.”
He further added, “Kick me out if you want…it’s your party not mine.”
