By Zoila Palma:  An American national is currently detained at the San Ignacio Police Station pending investigation into the attempted kidnapping of three children from 7Miles village.

The girls were on their way to school around 8:30 a.m. on Monday and on their way, they stopped at a nearby shop to buy ideals. That is when a man driving a blue Isuzu pickup reportedly stopped and offered them something to eat.

The girls reportedly refused the offer but the man got out of his vehicle grabbed them and threw them behind his vehicle. He reportedly tied their hands with their uniform shirts.

A parent of one of the children told BBN that the girls were only rescued by a “miracle of God.”

According to the parent, they were on their way back to the village around 12:30 when his son saw one of the girls hanging from the bumper of the pickup as it passed them. He alerted his parents and they immediately stopped their vehicle. When the girls saw that they had passed the vehicle and saw their father, they jumped out of the moving pick up truck and the man sped off.

The girls were traumatized and told their parents the entire ordeal.

According to their reports, they were taken into some bushes and their under garments were missing. The girls told their parents that the man touched them inappropriately.

The girls were examined on Monday night by a medical examiner who told the parents that they were not hurt sexually. The children sustained minor cuts and bruises from being tied up and from jumping out of the vehicle.

Police are yet to issue a report on this incident.
