By BBN Staff: Last Thursday night, community activist and taxi driver, Albert Cattouse, 72, was gunned down on the South Side of Belize City.

The incident was considered by many a political hit.

However, yesterday Prime Minister Dean Barrow, during a press conference in Belize City denied such notion.

He revealed that on the night in question, Cattouse took a passenger to an undisclosed location where two other men hopped in the taxi.

That was when Cattouse realized that the men were in possession of a gun and was planning to engage in criminal activities.

He reportedly refused to transport the men and that was when he was shot in the head.

According to PM Barrow, this version of events is what he learnt from the Belize Police Department.

Police have not yet made any arrests.
