Galen University honors World Food day

By Zoila Palma: On Monday, Galen University students, along with representatives from the Cornerstone Foundation of Belize, participated in a “Walk Against Hunger” campaign.

The walk began at 5:30 a.m. and students walked down the road from in front of the Shell Gas Station in Santa Elena to Galen University at Central Farm.

The Office of Student Affairs also held a fundraising initiative, resulting in pledges that totaled $520.00.

The proceeds from the fundraiser were donated directly to the Cornerstone Foundation of Belize’s feeding program for underprivileged children.

To complement the initiatives supporting the Cornerstone Foundation, Galen Eagles also donated canned foods, rice, beans and a variety of other food items, which were delivered to Dara’s feeding program in Belize City.

Galen continues to expose its students to social issues in Belize, not only to create a more socially aware individual, but also to enable them to become critical thinkers with solutions to the different social issues plaguing our country.
