By Zoila Palma: Showers and wet weather continue to affect Belize today.

Since this morning, it has been raining constantly in the Cayo district.

Several pictures have been circulating on social media showing schools, roads and drains flooded in Succotz and Benque Viejo del Carmen.

Mount Carmel Primary School in Benque cancelled classes for this afternoon due to the flooding in their school yard.

The National Meteorological service reports that showers and moist weather is expected to continue over the next couple of days.

The 24 hour forecast is for cloudy to overcast skies with several showers and periods of rain over most areas.

Small crafts are advised to exercise caution for gusty winds and locally rough seas.

The Met service says that localized flooding is likely to occur in low lying areas and flash flooding is possible in Southern areas.
