Senior citizen falls into latrine and dies

By Zoila Palma:  Last night around 7:30, police responded to information that a male person in Santa Clara Village had fallen inside a latrine pit and died.

Noemi Pech,72, reported that Marcelo Jimenez, 62, a cane farmer of Santa Clara Village had been drinking at her house and that at around 7:00 p.m., he went to use the latrine which is approximately 50 feet away from the house.

They reportedly heard a noise and upon checking, noticed that Jimenez had fallen inside the latrine pit which is around 12 feet deep.

Police retrieved the body and transported it to the Corozal Community Hospital where it awaits a post mortem examination.

Police are investigating.
