PUP announces mayoral candidate for Belize City

BBN Staff: The Opposition People’s United Party (PUP) has selected its mayoral candidate and councilors to square off  in the 2018 Belize City Council Election.

Career banker and basketball enthusiast, Bernard Wagner, is the man selected by the PUP.

During an interview with the press on Wednesday, PUP Leader, John Briceno made the announcement.

Briceno referred to Bernard as, “A dynamic young man. A young man I’ve had the pleasure to meet. A person that is sincere,that is genuine. A person that has lived in Southside, has worked in Southside, that has
worked with young people, has worked in the bank…so he is a rounded individual, that is not just depending on who he is but what he has done, that he is offering himself.”

Speaking about Bernard’s team, Briceno said, “About five of them are under the age of twenty-three; we have a person that has a doctorate, another person with banking experience; so we have a well-rounded
team, a very, very good team that the residents of Belize City will be excited to support.”

The team is expected to have a public endorsement next weekend.
