Online impersonator wanted by police

By BBN Staff: Belmopan police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Elston Elijio, the man believed to be behind a phony Facebook account pretending to be the Governor General of Belize.

According to a report issued by Officer Commanding Belmopan Police, Sr. Supt. Howell Gillett; Elijio is wanted for questioning in relation to a fake email and fake Facebook account that was being operated under the Governor General’s name.

The office of the Governor General issued a release this morning stating that the profile and email address were fake.

Belmopan police immediately launched an investigation into the matter and are now looking for Elijio, 23, of Dangriga.

The report states that Elijio also pretends to be a doctor and calls himself Dr. Elijio.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Elijio is asked to contact the nearest police station.
