Man charged for accident that left two critical

By BBN Staff: On Friday there was a traffic accident near mile 8 on the Philip Goldson highway in which a champagne colored Ford SUV had collided into a grey and red Toyota pickup truck carrying watermelons. Two men were trapped inside the pickup truck.

The Ford Everest, driven at the time by Con Murphy, 36, was traveling from Belize City to Ladyville and upon reaching mile 8, collided into the front portion of the Toyota pickup.

The driver of the Toyota, Ricardo Jacobo, of Orange Walk and passenger Luis Jacob, 19, also of Orange Walk town were freed from the cabin of the pickup by member’s of the Belize Fire Service. Both men were transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) with varying degrees of bodily injuries.

Yesterday, Con Murphy was arrested and charged for ‘driving without due care and attention’, ‘failing to provide specimen’ and ‘driving without a valid drivers license’.

The police investigation continues.
