PAHO highlights Belize’s achievements on Malaria Day

BBN Staff: Yesterday, November 6 was celebrated as Malaria Day in the Americas.

In commemoration of the day, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Belize highlighted the efforts that have been made in Belize in alleviating the cases of malaria in the country.

According to an analysis by the PAHO/World Health Organization (WHO), Belize is one of the six countries from the Americas having the potential to eliminate malaria by 2020.

PAHO Belize has reported that the number of malaria cases has declined by 99.12% (1,486 cases to 13 cases) between 2000 and 2015.
