Police issue statement on accident this morning

By BBN Staff: According to police, around 7:00 a.m. today a white Hilo cargo truck belonging to Unicomer Belize, driven at the time by Santiago Perez, 55, was heading from Belize city to Belmopan and upon reaching mile 6 on the George Price highway, a grey and black Lexus car loss control and collided into the cargo truck.

When police responded to the scene, cops saw the Unicomer truck on the right hand side of the highway and found the Lexus partially off the highway with a two people trapped inside.

The Lexus was driven by Devon Bailey, 25, and Randean Valerio, 25. The pair were removed by members of the Belize Fire Service.

Bailey received head injuries and a broken leg, while Valerio is listed in a stable but critical condition.

A notice of intended prosecution has been issued and police investigations continues.
