By BBN Staff: Belize is the official host of the 2017 World Youth Conference (WYC).
The conference was officially declared opened by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youths, Sports & Culture Patrick Faber at an opening ceremony at the Ramada Princess Hotel in Belize City on Monday night.
The evening closed with a live performance of the theme song, “Heretimativa Juntos (Stronger Together)” performed by Belizean artists, C-Wills, Bernadette Gilharry, Supa G, Tanya Carter and T.R. Shine.
The 2017 WYC is being hosted under the theme, “Globally running to 2030, Becoming Sustainably Strong” and is a gathering of national, regional and international youth leaders with an objective to bring the voice of youth into a transnational deliberation on how to make the post-2015 development agenda a reality.
The conference will culminate on Thursday, November 9th with the Youth Awards.
The Conference is organized by the Department of Youth Service in collaboration with the International Youth Committee, the Ministry of Education, Youth Sports and Culture and the Government of Belize.
