PAC meets without problems

Posted: Saturday, November 11, 2017. 11:02 am CST.

BBN Staff: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) convened a meeting on Thursday without any issues after PAC Chairman, Julius Espat accused government ministers of boycotting the last PAC meeting, a claim which the government denied and clarified saying their representatives were sick at the time.

The meeting took place on Thursday and saw Auditor General Dorothy Bradley appear before the PAC, however, according to Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber, she was not questioned about her special report on the Immigration and Nationality Department.

Faber said he believed the meeting was productive but explained why he believed it was better that the PAC meetings not be public. “This closer relationship though, and looking at the figures of the Government, keeping the Government on track, does not always bode well to be public because, of course, you see how things are. People pick up things, they might have a part of the story. They might have little bits and pieces, and it is blown out of proportion and taken the wrong way,” Faber told the media.
