By BBN Staff: In commemorating the 5th anniversary of the Sandy Beach Women Cooperatives Society, the Cooperative Department is inviting the general public to join in celebration for another year of existence.
This year’s anniversary focuses on the achievement gained from the 2003 fire that engulfed the restaurant.
The Sandy Beach Women Cooperatives Society was registered in 1986 making it the oldest cooperative society in Hopkins, Stann Creek.
After regrouping to a new start, the group re-opened on the 16th of November, 2012.
The society was able to receive funding for the reconstruction and equipping of the restaurant through the Self Development of People, a Presbyterian organization based in the United States. Services offered by the group are food catering, and lodging.
This year’s anniversary will be celebrated on November 16th in Hopkins from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Traditional food to be served on that day include hudut, conch Soup and fried fish.
