According to a release from GOB Press Office, Elrington briefed the gathering on recent developments in the country including economic developments and Belize – Guatemala relations, stressing the importance to resolve Guatemala’s claim to Belize at the International Court of Justice.
Belizeans and friends of Belize present shared with Minister Elrington their willingness to contribute to Belize’s development drawing on their talents, skills and resources.
Areas of particular possibilities for cooperation that were discussed at the session included education, technology, health, sports and law enforcement.
The Foreign Minister thanked the gathering for their readiness to contribute to Belize and reiterated government’s commitment to work closely with the diaspora to deepen their involvement in the country.
Elrington was accompanied by Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ambassador Pat Andrews, and Director of International Affairs, Ms. Ayesha Borland.
