3 people die in fatal traffic accident in St. Margaret, Cayo

By BBN Staff: Yesterday around 2:05 p.m., police responded to a traffic accident between miles 31 and 32 on the Hummingbird Highway near a one lane bridge in St. Margaret’s Village.

Upon arrival at the scene, police saw a gold Toyota Camry car in the river extensively damaged .

The driver, Harold Albert Smith, 37, of Burrell Boom Village was seen trapped in the car, apparently dead.

Also travelling along with Smith at the time was Keith Alonso Frazier, 37, and Marlon Flowers, 41.

The body of Smith, Frazier, and Flowers were transported to the Western Regional Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Initial investigation revealed that the men were travelling towards Belmopan from Dangriga and upon approaching the one lane bridge between miles 31 and 32, Smith lost control of the vehicle and ran into the river.

Police investigations continue.
