By BBN Staff: According to police reports, on Saturday night around 9:51, officers responded to a report of a road traffic accident in St. Margaret’s Village, Cayo.
Police arrived at the scene between miles 31 and 32 on the Hummingbird Highway and saw a grey Honda Accord car in the creek extensively damaged.
Police investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, Glen Bert Reneau,36, a Belizean construction worker was travelling from the direction of Belmopan to Dangriga and upon reaching a narrow bridge in Saint Margaret Village, he lost control of the vehicle and collided into the bridge.
Reneau received head and body injuries.
He was later transported to the Western Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
At the time of the accident, Reneau was travelling with Glendale Ramos,26, a Police Constable who was seated in the front passenger seat and , Maria Ramirez,21, a Belizean waitress of Belize City who was seated on the right, rear seat.
Ramirez received injury to her left foot and Ramos received injury to his right hand.
Police are investigating.
