Saint Margaret’s bridge to get signs and markers

Posted: Wednesday, November 22, 2017. 10:59 am CST.

BBN Staff: This morning, Officer Commanding Belmopan police, Sr. Supt. Howell Gillett informed the media that Belmopan police have been in contact with Francisco Woods of Cisco Construction to assist in marking the approaches to the bridge in Saint Margaret’s Village.

This comes after three major traffic accidents on the bridge over the weekend.

Gillett said that reflective stickers will be placed on the bridge this week.

“This does not take away the responsibility from drivers to drive with sufficient care, don’t drink and drive and when in unfamiliar territory, extreme caution must be practiced,” he explained.

Woods informed Gillett  that on three separate occasions his company has done works to make the area safer but unknown persons have removed or destroyed the markers placed at the site.

In addition, the Ministry of works will install guard rails to both approaches of the bridge and equip it with more signage.

These works are expected to occur this week.
