Japan Government donates US $87,000 to Belmopan city council

By BBN Staff: In recognizing the importance of garbage collection for the residents of Belmopan city and surrounding communities, the Belmopan City Council applied for grant assistance from the Grassroots and Human Security Program from the Embassy of Japan to purchase a new garbage compactor truck.

A signing ceremony to present the grant of US $87,539.00 was held today at the Belmopan Hotel Conference Room.

 Deputy Mayor Ralston Frazer signed on behalf of the Belmopan City Council while counselor of the Embassy of Japan, Shinichi Yamanaka, signed on behalf of the Japanese Government.

The grant is expected to assist in the Council’s ongoing efforts to keep Belmopan and surrounding areas clean.
